Prudential’s CTO organization is hiring a Vice President, Cloud Services to drive the cloud vision strategy, engineering, and governance, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. This position is a technical leader who has both strong technical skills and leadership ability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Agile teams responsible for designing, building, and operating global cloud engineering and operations functions, supporting the deployment, management, and reporting for all cloud environments.
  • Ensure consistent, scalable, secure and flexible use of cloud provider services complete with ubiquitous logging, high availability, and strong governance.
  • Set ambitious and clear vision and communicate ‘the cloud operations story’ effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team
  • Drive continuous improvement through the ongoing technical and financial optimization of cloud resources
  • Own the end-to-end Cloud strategy

Qualifications:

  • Has extensive software engineering background building large distributed systems
  • Strong technical experience planning, building and running cloud applications, including microservices patterns, security integration, and cloud native development support.
  • Hands-on knowledge and/or certification with Amazon Web Services; Working level knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform
  • Proven track record building and operating large-scale enterprise cloud environments.
  • Deep technical knowledge of cloud native patterns and 12-factor application design
  • Technical expertise to be able to engage in discussion with technology teams and to understand business outcomes and technical risk
  • Experience in Agile Development, with Product Owner (or similar) experience preferred
  • Consultative skillset with the ability to conduct continuous exploration of customer needs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs to tell a compelling story
  • Strong leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively across the organization and influence a diverse group of stakeholders and technical experts
  • Exhibits strategic thinking capabilities, problem solving skills, strong execution, and accountability for outcomes
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical terms
  • Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas – loves and embraces change
  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team
  • Has remained technical, keeps skills up to date
