Job Summary

The Principal of Talent Career Development Programs is responsible for the development and deployment of programs supporting the Walgreens enterprise-wide talent strategy to support both Field and Corporate teams within the business. Consults with managers, business leaders, and Human Resource leaders to assess and identify enterprise talent needs. Leads the development of more complex talent plans, designs frameworks talent interventions, and consults with subject matter experts to source appropriate content in order to support employee development, attraction retention. Sample programs may include but are not limited to apprenticeship workforce development programs, onboarding experiences, strategic educational partnerships and rotational development programs etc.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs as key member of the COE team, developing and maintaining the required capability and talent. Provides thought leadership and expertise in broad career development enterprise solutions and activities to ensure high levels of service delivery.
  • Partners with the appropriate HR representatives/clients and utilizes deep understanding of talent to develop strategies, programs, policy, and process for the enterprise.
  • Supports the development and application of enterprise-wide talent guidelines, frameworks, programs, toolkits, and methodologies.
  • Designs commercial, compliant, and business-relevant talent policies and programs from interpreting Walgreens’ business strategy.
  • Works collaboratively across organization to ensure flexible and relevant talent solutions that provide clear value-add to Walgreens. Creates and maintains partnerships with other departments. Partners with other areas of HR as appropriate including HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services and delivery members.
  • Measures the effectiveness of talent initiatives, evaluates and interprets the results. Makes improvement recommendations to management when necessary.
  • Defines the required metrics to measure achievement of key talent programs. Leverage talent metrics to inform and/or modify strategies.
  • Analyzes the performance of career development strategies at an aggregate level.
  • Provides deep understanding of the external environment and the HR strategic agenda and vigorously ensure that talent strategies directly support this agenda.
  • Develops innovative models on talent that can be implemented to meet business needs both in the short and long-term.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years OR High School/GED and at least 5 years Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, or Talent Management
  • Experience in strategy development and/or workforce development programs.
  • Experience collaborating with, and providing solutions to, executive leaders.
  • Experience managing stakeholders within and outside of HR that have an impact on the talent strategy.
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of HR Recruiting processes and programs.
  • Experience defining metrics to measure achievements.
  • Knowledge of Talent Management interdependencies, such as workforce planning, corporate branding, succession management, retention, on-boarding, career development.
