Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Bonobos is looking for a creative and passionate Associate Designer to work on a Bonobos Fielder product.

Founded on a better-fitting pair of pants and the best-in-class customer service around, Bonobos is one of the fastest growing digitally navtive apparel companies ever. As our Associate Designer, you'll be working with all facets of design development in a collection driven category alongside the fun and highly talented Design team. In the role, you'll be diving into the design process head first. You'll be doing market research to understand our customers, sketching, working on print and pattern development, collaborating with our tech team during fittings and communicating daily with our Production and Merchandising teams.

Reporting directly to our Design Director, you will have the opportunity to get your hands dirty in every step of the design process. You will play an instrumental role in evolving our new younger lifestyle capsule, season after season. We have an all-hands-on-deck mentality where the sharing of ideas is encouraged. What you'll do...

  • Assists in designing and innovating on all products for the Bonobos Fielder line
  • Contributes to all aspects of the design process
  • Stays up to date on menswear trends related to their categories and actively researches competitive market landscape and menswear trends to stay up-to-date on industry, and communicates findings to manager
  • Supports concept and color palette development and passes clear color direction to production team
  • Attends relevant category cross-functional meetings with merchandising, production, tech design and planning, make updates and send recaps where needed
  • Take notes and send recaps during key meetings related to your categories
  • Supports choosing fabric selections to meet cost target needs, works closely with production to select fabrics or pass swatches for development
  • Creates fabrics in BeProduct development tool
  • Creates fabric, print and trim requests and sets up materials in BeProduct
  • Review all samples for stakeholder meetings and pass comments to vendor
  • Comment on submits from production, and schedule pass off meetings when needed (lab dips, strike offs, bulk lots, trim submits, PP sample comments, thread and wash panels, etc.)
  • Collaborates with print team and outside artist to create custom prints and graphics
  • Supports merch in prepping for in-store Walmart assortment meetings
  • Provides necessary cad representation
  • Provides necessary imagery for research surveys
  • Brings a strong understanding of performance lifestyle products including a solid knowledge in technical fabrics as well as fabric finishes
  • Responsible for creating detailed and accurate tech packs (Sketch, fabric and trim bill of material) (Adept at relevant design systems, BeProduct, Adobe, Miro, Microsoft) - ensure these are correct by reviewing with your manager, and does sketch and BOM update as needed
  • Creates detailed line lists for merch and vendors
  • Creates digital "rack" presentations for Walmart
  • Reviews necessary market samples. for example AFM, AR and Photo Samples
  • Contributes point of view in fitting and take notes/update tech packs and sketches accordingly
  • Creates clear and directional design boards, contributes to editing development to 50% development ratio in partnership with Design and Merchandising
  • Present portions of design boards during design presentation
  • Actively contributes to assortment meetings but still rely on manager for guidance
  • Keeps clear, open communication with production and merchandising to ensure smooth development process
  • Attend fabric, trim and vendor appointments
  • Keep design area clean and organized during down time
  • Communicates all product details for site merchandising to input into website each quarter

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Textiles , Fashion, Graphic Design, or related field and 2 years' experience in textile design, print design, graphic design, or
related area.
