Job Summary
Responsible for entering and maintaining accurate data in the pharmacy clinical database and ensuring that data is compliant with internal and external pharmacy descriptors and drug classifications. Independently researches discrepancies and collaborates with Legal and/or Purchasing to validate the appropriate classification/descriptor requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews newly purchased and revised existing pharmaceuticals and determine appropriate drug classification and legal descriptors.
  • Updates appropriate clinical database with prescription information for patient use and for legal compliance issues.
  • Analyzes, researches, and resolves Remedy tickets initiated by Store Operations and other business units, on issues pertaining to Intercom Plus, SIMS, and data issues.
  • Performs regular quality assurance processes to ensure that the database and SIMS are accurate and both databases have been balanced.
  • Enters drug and non-drug data into SIMS, including recommendation on Rx items and OTC items Plano linking input of drug and not-drug data into SIMS, marketing (ADR7), and SIMS central stores (ADR4) to include basic department indicator, package size, quantity of units, unit of measure, item description, UPC, and Plano link.
  • Provides support to Store Operations (e.g., assist in drug recall protocols, etc.) including arranging and coordinating details for meetings, conferences, and for patient-level recalls. Ensures all procedures with the group for recalls have been completed and communicated to other business units.
  • Conducts queries within Corporate Editor and business objects to achieve business objectives and develop ad-hoc reports. May manage various projects pertaining to the database. Identifies patterns in systems and recommends improvements.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, documents, etc. based on general instructions.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician within a retail pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician as granted by PTCB.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy systems.
  • Experience analyzing and reporting data identify and correct errors.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized as a Senior Pharmacy Technician.
  • Basic level skill in SQL (for example: build queries, add, modify, and delete data; create and maintain tables, query and update databases using SQL statements, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Intercom Plus and SIMS.
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
