Prudential’s Chief Data Office is seeking a Business Intelligence Data Engineer to own the technical development for the Business Intelligence team, valuing simplicity and willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve Agile design.

As a Data Engineer, the person will work with the agile product teams and Tech Lead to align technical execution to the overall strategy. The Data Engineer will build high quality data pipelines driving platform or product delivery.   This person will work collaboratively across Prudential and third-party vendors to deliver a technology-led, intelligent platform that supports our customer’s success.  

The role requires deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis and reporting. The successful candidate must have deep technical domain subject matter experience, execution and operations of data analytics platforms, experience creating data products (e.g., ingestion, consumption, data models supporting analytic solutions). 

Responsibilities:  

  • Design, develop, optimize and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals.

  • Partner with Product Owner, Tech Lead and developers on team to develop technical architecture for strategic enterprise initiatives.

  • Understands the enterprise data architecture and aligns the design of the data models accordingly (e.g., domain-based or business view models)

  • Advise, consult, mentor and coach other data and analytic professionals on data standards and practices.

  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions.

  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of emerging tools and process to improve our productivity as a team.

Skills / Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field 

  • Expertise in SQL and data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python).

  • Experience developing and maintaining data warehouses in big data solutions.

  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, warehousing, structured and unstructured data.

  • Excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills.

  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and learning skills.

  • Strong work ethic, consultative skills and attitude to thrive in fast-paced team environment.

  • Preferred:

  • Experience / aptitude with BI and data visualization packages.

  • Database development experience using Hadoop or BIgQuery and experience with a variety of relational, NoSQL, and cloud database technologies.

  • Experience in Agile Development 

  • Experience of Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies / technologies to drive efficient working practices.

  • Understands relationship between Product Owner, Scrum Master, and rest of team, with a strong sense of design thinking
