Position Summary:

Establish Creative Strategy as an internal super power, growing and elevating creative campaign and content capabilities at Walmart.

Turn business challenges into creative opportunities. By deeply understanding the brand and the human context in which it lives, bringing insights and foresights to spark relevant and inspiring creative ideas. Infuse human truths into business objectives and asks to spark creativity + inspiration.

Lead consumer centric creative strategies and creative content planning for all internal campaigns and content across all channels. Part creative thinker and part strategic solver, the head of Creative Strategy should possess highly developed communication skills with the ability to collect and synthesize key business and user insights, understand physical and digital platform best practices and apply their strategic skills to create actionable briefs that inspire award winning, breakthrough, business driving creative. Helping to develop ecosystems that strengthen the creative intent and the resulting go-to-market approach. Partner closely with Creative, Account, Brand and Marketing Strategy, Media, Insights and Measurement leaders to drive results . Working both with internal teams and agency partners.

Key Priorities
  • Translate business asks, objectives and inputs into consumer centric creative briefs infusing them with insights + foresights. Inspire creative strategies and briefs that align WalMart's business objectives with clear consumer truths and channel best practices.
  • Connect the dots with Brand Strategy, Customer Insights and Media partners to tap into consumer insights, measurement and analytics to inform creative development and its distribution for maximum relevance and impact.
  • Look to the consumer, cultural context and trends to put the brand in culture and culture in the brand.
  • As a thought leader, share trends and learnings from emerging platforms and consumer behaviors to shape creative work.
  • Bring best in class creative and competitive examples to inspire breakthrough and innovative work to drive the business and grows the brand.
  • Set the Creative Strategic Vision for owned channels + paid campaigns created by in house creative teams.
  • Drive innovation and "rapid prototyping" to build learnings that can solidify WalMart's presence as an industry leader.
  • Monitor campaigns and content performance for success, relevance and future planning.
  • Partner with head of Creative and Integrated Production to develop Social Micro Content studio. Focus on development of Social Creative Strategy and Creative playbook to define brand voice, expression, content and culture pillars across channels, paid and organic content. Drive brand relevance and reputation.
  • In partnership with Head of Design, stand up Brand Lab to develop owned and private label branding, positioning and communication systems.
  • Share external thought leadership and participate in mentorship and sponsorship programs to continue to build a strong pipeline of young diverse strategic talent


Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years of Marketing experience leading Creative Strategy
  • History of recruiting, retaining and growing top performing, diverse, creative strategy talent.
  • Excellent executive management skills with the ability to effortlessly meet deadlines on multiple projects with varying timelines
  • Passion for creativity with experience pitching ideas that articulate a strategic approach, grow the business and build the brand.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high volume, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong interest in and passion for culture, new media platforms, new technologies
  • Self-starter; takes initiative and shows continuous growth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive team player with an optimistic, enthusiastic attitude able to collaborate with and influence peers to overcome obstacles


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading transformational change and operating in a complex matrixed organization
  • Omni-channel Retail experience

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor's degree in Design, Marketing, Creative Writing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field and 8 years' experience leading creative teams OR 10 years' experience leading creative teams.
8 years' supervisory experience.
