The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity Team (CONNECT) team is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers.

Job Summary

Bring a combination of People Leadership, HFC infrastructure, Hardware, and modern software expertise as a “player-coach” to lead a team to design, develop, support, and apply your craft to help build HFC RF and optical infrastructure and participate in the development of industry-leading network enhancements that will maximize broadband capacity. Lead people and projects that are developing the next generation of 10G cable access technology, including mid-split, high-split, Software Define Networking solutions based on AI/ML and DOCSIS 4.0 Full-Duplex Technology increasing capacity and spectral efficiency.

Responsible for architecture and design cutting edge access network solutions, innovating, and integrating access network technologies across multiple disciplines, all lines of business, and constantly seeking to improve the network performance and quality of experience of subscribers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Engineers and provide mentorship on soft skills, communication, technology, project management, and career growth while removing barriers to successful execution and employee satisfaction

  • Support company goals and objectives on Culture, employee satisfaction, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Maintain a mature perspective on company business and operational requirements with a scope extending beyond your team.

  • Build and organize cross-functional teams to support effective project execution, and arrange for project resourcing

  • Evaluate and discover network and service design challenges and design innovative solutions to some key HFC challenges with the use of new and optimization of existing network infrastructure.

  • Lead, empower and be accountable to collaborate with the R&D team to design and develop solutions and analyze ongoing performance.

  • Work with program and operations resources to execute field trials and network measurement campaigns

  • Frequent meetings/communication with stakeholders to interpret their needs, plan/organize, and discuss progress and results.

  • Develop and communicate goals, strategies, tactics, project plans, timelines, and key performance metrics to reach goals.

  • Collaborate across teams with an open-minded perspective on new ideas with a creative contribution to new technology, architectures, and operational approaches. Inclusive sharing of ideas and data with all stakeholders. Inclined to act and do whatever is needed to get the job done.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant science or engineering disciplines preferred.

  • 5+ years experience with leading people and organizing diverse teams and complex projects

  • 15+ years working in broadband or wireless telecommunications including HFC and DOCSIS or wireless technologies

  • Expert level Understanding of DOCSIS (3/3.1/4) physical, MAC, and upper-layer protocols including distributed network architectures with Software Defined Networking, Network Function Virtualization, and Cloud-Based Systems

  • DOCSIS 3.1 OSS and PNM collection capabilities and telemetry a plus

  • Expert level experience with cross-functional hardware and software including RF and embedded systems such as amplifiers, Remote PHY Device CMTS functions, HFC nodes, Digital Pre-Distortion, Echo cancellation

  • Deployment, lab, and field trial of new technology experience is required

  • Familiarity with modern software development including Python, Go, C/C++/C#, Java, R and familiarity with continuous integration and test case automation and development tools and processes such as JIRA and Agile Knowledge and experience on cloud-based systems and understanding the Quality of Service functionalities is a plus

Pay Range: $158,493.08 - $237,739.62

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
