Job Summary

As an Infrastructure Software Engineer for the IPCDN Infra team you will be expected to deploy, lead, and problem-solve the hardware platform that supports IPCDN applications and develop tools to help drive automation. The Comcast IPCDN team is a fast-growing, fast paced team of world-class experts who are continuously innovating IP Content Delivery. What are the interesting problems you’ll be working on? Comcast provides a CDN through the Apache Traffic Control open-source project. We connect content providers to customer STBs and over-the-top applications like NBC Peacock, Disney+, and Roku. The CDN consists of thousands of individual servers distributed across Comcast’s entire footprint. As the CDN continues to scale we will need engineers who can automate the management of these servers, streamline deployment pipelines, reduce mean time to recovery, and quickly identify and resolve hardware and software issues. You’ll be working with some of Comcast’s best engineers on the future of content delivery. Who will you work with? IPCDN Infra engineers work and collaborate with industry authorities from many fields: software architects and developers, network engineers, data scientists, security specialists, and various streaming video technologists. IPCDN Infra engineers also engage with quality assurance engineers, technical operators, product owners, and vendors. Where can you make an impact? Your contributions will help scale the Comcast CDN to be one of the largest in the world. Your team will build and deploy servers that distribute video content to millions of existing and new customers. You’ll help influence groundbreaking video streaming technology standards using innovative technology and see your individual contributions have multi-million-dollar business impacts to Comcast’s bottom line.

Job Description


  • Ensure the successful deployment of CDN hardware into production.

  • Support teams who use the CDN to deliver content such as IP Linear, VOD, cloud DVR, and internal and external over-the-top customers.

  • Collaborate with engineering and business partners to create and implement service level objectives (SLO) and service level indicators (SLI).

  • Tackle and repair hardware and application issues within the CDN.

  • Craft and develop new tools and applications to automate existing pipelines.

  • Be involved in on-call duties as vital.

  • Regular and consistent attendance.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education, skill, and requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science and/or 3+ years equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years working with a scripting language like Python and configuration management tool like Ansible.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.

  • Demonstrate technical leadership.

  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux.

  • Have a data driven and analytical demeanor.

  • Large-scale system design and development experience.

  • Willingness to work with server hardware platforms and vendors.

  • Customer-focused delivery under agile methodology.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

Relevant Work Experience

Pay Range: $80,962.20 - $121,443.29

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
