Job Summary

The candidate will work with critical stakeholders to lead efforts around DEI related issues, enterprise engagement, and strategic priorities in furtherance of Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The candidate will serve as a resource in helping to inform leadership on emerging and existing DEI issues, as well as informing potential strategies on how to best position the company. They will help drive thought leadership on critical DEI issues. They will be responsible for advising the Corporate CDO and senior leaders on DEI matters. In addition to leading on some of our signature DEI programs (Comcast speaker series), the candidate will build out internal resources and opportunities to create greater awareness in the constantly evolving DEI universe. The candidate will be an experienced and entrepreneurial leader, with a deep understanding of government/public stakeholder groups. This is a highly visible role that will define and execute the strategy and thrive on delivering measurable results and impact. They will need to be an excellent collaborator internally as well as consensus builder externally. They will work with leadership to develop strategies for enhanced cross company collaboration and ideation. The Candidate will be responsible for supporting the creation of enterprise-wide best practices, including creation and evaluation of those best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience building consensus, managing competing needs, clear decision-making skills, desire to learn more about an evolving landscape, the ability to motivate and lead teams, and managing complex initiatives.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead various resources (direct and indirect staff, internal and external partners) to help manage and direct complex, cross functional DEI related issues that are critical to the overall corporation and/or our separate brands and businesses.
  • Serves as thought leader and influencer of strategic plans (internal and external), large scale cross company partnerships and response to external factors;
  • Presents strategic insights and implications (opportunities/threats) for Company in report summaries and in roundtable discussions with leadership;
  • Serves as the point support person for non-core business policy work for the corporate Impact & Inclusion team;
    • Drive and project manage extensive stakeholder engagement on targeted issues with the goal of developing and supporting execution of strategic and tactical recommendations.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance;
  • Prepares background materials that support Comcast’s policy positions writ large and particularly the impact & inclusion space;
  • Serves as a culture change coach and ambassador to employees of Comcast’s values; and
  • Helps manages department priorities and is deployed to address complex intersectional projects of strategic importance to the team.

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to navigate and support multiple stakeholders’ perspectives and conflicting demand (External Affairs, Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Global Public Policy, Corporate Communications, HR, and legal teams on issues that intersect the space).
  • Ability to see the “helicopter” in and out of issues, to anticipate potential pitfalls and clarify ambiguity to recommend best path forward;
  • Excellent judgement, discretion and diplomacy;
  • Highly networked maintaining both inside and outside of the company;
  • Constantly evaluate micro and macro level approach to specific risk factors pivoting quickly when necessary;
  • Ability to manage budgetary responsibilities around select portfolios of work;.
  • Ability to serve as intermediary for the leader and senior team while redirecting unproductive action sand building and maintaining trust with colleagues; and
  • Analytical, impact oriented and budget conscious thinking.

Required Expertise

  • 15 + years working in and/or around legal, DE&I, CSR, learning and/or government/political operations in roles that may include, but are not limited to, lawyer, advocate, strategist, connector, educator and/or political appointee
  • Proven track record of executing large change management exercises, building high functioning, lean teams and streamlining workflow to maximum efficiency and impact
  • Proven record of collation building and identification, and impeccable stakeholder management skills
  • Proven and tested intellectual acumen and rigor that is adaptable to a multitude of projects and task
