Job Summary

Comcast's Technology, Product, Experience team designs, develops, delivers and supports innovative products and services that bring internet, TV and voice to millions of residential and business customers. Our DevX Platform Database Services team is looking for a Sr. DevOps Database Engineer to design, develop and automate solutions revolving around our various database offerings that can help business units across Comcast. Work to accelerate time to market of their product releases and at the same time safeguard critical customer data from various security breaches.

Job Description

You will gain experience in:

  • Cutting edge database solutions in various RDBMS, NoSQL, and Cloud database technologies.

  • Researching, recommending, and deploying the high availability, Disaster recovery and replication solutions for critical projects.

  • Automating the solutions using the popular automation tooling.

  • Contribute to the development projects related to database services.

Core Responsibilities

  • The DevOps Database Engineer will continuously enhance the automation of database deployments and maintenance for the Client infrastructure

  • Work closely with various collaborators to understand their needs for databases

  • Given that understanding, you will make recommendations and provide self-service offerings that enable collaborators to deploy, monitor and maintain the right databases for their needs

  • Develop systems to further automate the deployment and maintenance of database services

  • Enhance automated functions including, monitoring, backup, recovery, high availability, user management, access control and audit logging

  • Add automated tests for every function on a continuous delivery (CI/CD) platform

  • Collaborate with partners to further understand their needs for databases, make recommendations and ultimately deploy solutions in the form of the databases and their orchestration

  • Maintain the documentation about automation, orchestration and processes.

Required Skills

  • Strong Understanding of various relational and non-relational database technologies along with their benefits, downsides and best use-cases and recommend appropriate database technology to application teams based on their specific business use case.

  • Hands-on experience managing RDBMS databases like Oracle 12c/19c RAC, PostgreSQL, MySQL or MS SQL Server (At least 1 RDBMS is required)

  • Experience implementing and managing high availability and disaster recovery solutions like Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, ASM, Oracle Enterprise Manager, RMAN, Linux/Unix.

  • Experience with Oracle Golden Gate or any other equivalent replication technology in a production environment, with direct experience in installation, setup, modification, and solving will be a big plus.

  • Experience in installing, automating, scaling and supporting NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, among other emerging technologies (At least 1 NoSQL is required)

  • Experience working with the databases in public Clouds like AWS, Azure and GCP.

  • Proficiency in automation

  • Knowledge in Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Python, Terraform

  • Willingness and commitment to learn other database, automation, and Cloud technologies

  • Great communication and collaboration skills

  • Software development experience and knowledge of modern software development processes.

  • Knowledge/experience in development programming languages such as Java, Go, Nodejs, html, CSS, bootstrap etc. is a plus.

  • Knowledge/experience on AI/ML is a big plus.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with little to no supervision, providing team leadership skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure

Pay Range: $120,924.89 - $181,387.33

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
