Job Summary

The Developer Experience (DevX) team is designed to improve the way our Comcast engineering teams develop solutions, and to make the lives of our Comcast developers easier and more enjoyable during their day-to-day jobs of developing, delivering, and managing software. We offer a set of 13 core developer services, supported by over 80 platforms, that help our customers work better, deliver their software faster, and stay cost-effective. We know that when we do all that, we make our development community happier too. As part of the Comcast TPX DevX: Portfolio team, you are a vital member of the Comcast Cable CTO's organization. Our team is integral to the very fabric of the DevX organization, in that most of our customers are our own DevX teammates. Our team focuses on aligning our internal DevX organization operations and delivering our large, cross-cutting programs across TPX. We support DevX’s many efforts through strategic planning and portfolio management, driving consistency across the organization to create a seamless, positive experience for the teams that run our services and platforms. We are seeking a passionate, self-directed technical program manager to help lead cross-functional strategic programs and help support our internal DevX organization operations, primarily portfolio management.

Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead some of our cross-functional strategic programs through different stages of a program lifecycle, from the early stages of building a strategy and business case to gaining leadership support, to standing up the program and delivering it within the scope, within budget, and on schedule. You will have an opportunity to coordinate among a wide range of cross-functional internal and external resources, and you will rely on clear communication to both share information with the intended target audience and gather the information you need to successfully achieve your outcomes.

In addition to program delivery, the Sr. Technical Program Manager will support the team’s core objective of driving operational excellence across the DevX organization. You will have an opportunity to partner with all of our technical program managers, scrum masters, service leads, and leadership to find opportunities to improve our operations and encourage consistency across our service portfolio. Along with portfolio management, you will help ensure our customer communications and messaging look and feels consistent, partnering with our DevX Product team to find the best mechanisms to articulate and share our portfolio of work broadly.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver cross-functional strategic programs, often in ambiguity, helping define and understand the scope, building program plans and program records, coordinating across internal and external partners, supporting budget and forecasting exercises, facilitating key meetings, and assessing and mitigating risks to desired outcomes

  • Partner with DevX portfolio managers, technical program managers, and scrum masters to identify opportunities for process improvement and consistency across the portfolio

  • Collaborate with our DevX Product team, DevX leadership, and our DevX service owners to create valuable communications for our internal organization and consumers of our services

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in technical program management or equivalent role

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the technology industry

  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from executive stakeholders to engineers who are supporting our platforms and services

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven track record of delivering results and owning programs end-to-end

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related studies

  • Proven technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development

  • Proven track record of leading large programs

  • A demonstrated success in building influence and positive relationships across a large organization with many cross-functional stakeholders

  • Experience with program/portfolio management tools, such as Jira, Rally, ServiceNow, etc.
