I. Job Summary
Performs moderately complex tax accounting functions on federal, state and local levels, including filing large volumes of tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, maintaining fixed assets for tax purposes, and researching tax issues and state audits.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Files state and local income tax returns, state sales and use tax returns, and state quarterly tax estimates and extensions.
  • Responsible for property tax and various simple areas of state tax reporting.
  • Provides advanced state and local tax law information to management by researching code sections, rules and regulations to provide advice on technical tax ramifications to the company.
  • Responsible for the moderately complex areas of tax audits including research and negotiations with state authorities - state and local income/franchise, sales/use tax levels.
  • Reconciles and prepares intermediate analysis on general ledger tax accounts.
  • Facilitates good communication with and state and local authorities, company attorneys and tax consultants, and management.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (accredited) in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Three years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • None required.
